DUO X SQUARED
Duo X Squared (violinist Xenia Deviatkina-Loh and pianist Xiao Chen) is engaged actively as a professional and concertizing piano and violin duo. Both as doctorate students at UCLA and the winners of Frances Walton Competition, Xenia and Xiao decided to form a duo to perform classical and contemporary music. Xenia, an accomplished violinist from Australia, has performed with the many orchestras as a soloist in Australia and New Zealand, including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. With different cultural backgrounds, Xenia and Xiao share the same passion and strength in music by playing together. Duo X Squared has played numerous concerts in Seattle and Los Angeles. They toured Washington States and played many outreach concerts in schools. Their brilliant and breathtaking performances were acclaimed by the audiences.
RECORDING PROJECT-
A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN COMPOSERS
One of our dream projects has always been presenting and performing a programme that exclusively features female composers. History has rarely paid attention to compositions written by women. It is only recently that women’s contributions to contemporary music are leading the way in modern aesthetics; their artistic narratives are being acknowledged. The programme we designed strives to promote the artistic perspectives of women of many ethnic backgrounds.
